SoundRoutes at the 18th Interdepartmental Musicological Conference

The 18th Interdepartmental Musicological Conference, themed “Contemporary Music Creation, Tradition and Renewal,” takes place in Arta from 30 October to 1 November 2026, organised by the Hellenic Musicological Society and the Department of Music Studies at the University of Ioannina. The conference brings together presentations on contemporary music-making practices and their relationships with tradition, technology and the renewal of musical practice.

On Saturday, 31 October 2026, the presentation “SoundRoutes: A Post-Digital Environment for Soundscape Creation through the Lens of Acoustic Ecology and Ubiquitous Music Ecologies” is delivered. It focuses on the design of SoundRoutes, an environment connecting field recordings, GPS-activated sound points and participatory listening routes through the concepts of acoustic ecology and ubiquitous music ecologies.
