STE(A)M and Maker Culture in Music Education — Guest Lecture at NKUA

On 29 March 2023, a guest lecture takes place within “The Interdisciplinary Approach to Music Teaching (M229)” at the Music Pedagogy Division, Department of Music Studies, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The session forms part of the exploration of interdisciplinary approaches to music teaching and considers ways of connecting music, technology, making and creative experimentation.

The lecture “The Interdisciplinary STE(A)M Model in Music Lessons: The Philosophy of Maker Culture in Music Education” focuses on learning through making and the creation of musical artefacts. Examples include simple materials, digital applications, virtual instruments, programming environments and tangible interfaces, organised through iterative cycles of design, testing, feedback and redesign.
