Practice Music Diary Book for Instrumental and Vocal Teaching at ISME 2020

Within the 34th World Conference of the International Society for Music Education (ISME), the paper is included in the Forum for Instrumental and Vocal Teaching with a presentation date of 30 July 2020. The event had originally been scheduled for Helsinki, but the World Conference was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Parts of the programme moved to online sessions, while the published proceedings document the original conference programme.

The paper “Designing a Practice Music Diary Book for Instrumental/Vocal Music Teaching and Learning” examines the design of a practice diary as a complementary tool for instrumental and vocal teaching. Drawing on a literature review and a comparative study of published practice diaries, the proposal organises areas including active listening, performance, musical creativity, self-evaluation, technology and parental involvement.
