On 21 November 2020, Kroustofono hosts an online seminar on the use of contemporary technologies in music teaching and learning, with applications for both face-to-face and online settings.
Scratch, BandLab, Sonic Pi, Chrome Music Lab and Synth4Kids, together with Makey Makey, micro:bit and Arduino, are used in activities involving creative coding, music production and the construction of digital musical instruments.
The seminar organises different tools around fundamental musical functions so that participants can distinguish which technology best serves listening, composition, production or interaction. Practical applications show how the same musical aim can be approached through different media according to available equipment and group needs. Technology is approached functionally rather than as a source of novelty. Accessibility, usability and technical requirements are also considered so that each technological choice remains realistic for school and professional-development settings. Examples are framed so that they can be adapted across different age groups, musical aims and levels of available equipment.
