On 5 December 2020, an online music-technology seminar is organised by GSME, focusing on Christmas-themed music activities for distance teaching. The session is based on web tools that can be used directly in music lessons.
Chrome Music Lab, Groove Pizza and Synth4Kids are used for rhythmic and melodic experimentation and music creation. Activities of different levels of difficulty are presented so they can be adapted to students’ age, level and needs.
The applications are selected because they run directly in a web browser and allow quick participation even in distance-learning conditions. Activities combine rhythm, melody and sound experimentation and can be used individually or as a starting point for shared discussion and exchange of creations. The seasonal theme provides a familiar context while musical aims remain central. The tools are also combined into short sequences of activities so that learners can move from exploration to organisation and finally to the creation of a brief musical outcome.
