The online study day “Digital Approaches to Music Teaching in Music Schools” takes place on 22 March 2026, organised by the Music Schools Working Group of the Greek Society for Music Education. The event brings together proposals and examples of how digital media can support school-based and instrumental music teaching without replacing live musical interaction.

The presentation “Individual Instrumental Lessons in the Digital Age: Technological Enhancement or Paradigm Shift?” examines different areas in which technology can enter the one-to-one instrumental lesson. Listening, performance, improvisation, and creation are connected with music production, practice documentation, feedback, and assessment. At the same time, the presentation asks whether digital media merely enhance established practices or contribute to a substantive reconfiguration of how an instrument is taught and practised.

Particular attention is paid to the relationship between technological support and self-regulated practice, as digital tools can be used for recording, reflection and redesigning individual study. At the same time, the pedagogical relationship, listening and live musical interaction remain central dimensions of instrumental teaching.
