The study Exploring the integration of maker culture activities in the theory of music course at a Greek conservatoire, co-authored with M. Papazachariou-Christoforou, was published in Intellect’s Journal of Music, Technology & Education, a journal focused on the intersections of music, technology and education. The paper examines how maker culture can reshape music-theory learning in a conservatoire setting.

The intervention involved four children aged 6–7, with Synth4Kids and Makey Makey used to construct and connect tangible musical artefacts. Findings indicate active and enthusiastic participation, transformed musical and technological experiences, and a stronger relationship between theoretical concepts, experimentation and musical action. The study connects the construction of tangible musical interfaces with the exploration of theoretical ideas so that theory becomes directly related to doing, listening and experimenting. It also shows how a conservatoire lesson can move beyond the reproduction of exercises and incorporate collaborative creation, problem solving and exploratory musical activity within a structured learning environment.
