Electroacoustic Music Days 2025 takes place on 17–19 October at the Kampereio Theatre in Ioannina, as part of ESSIM’s 23rd annual meeting. Concert A2, on Friday 17 October at 20:15, features Yannis Mygdanis’s “Αποκλίνον Φάσμα (PSR-ΔX)”, a work for two-channel fixed media lasting 7′43″.
“Αποκλίνον Φάσμα (PSR-ΔX)” is a fixed-media work based on recordings of cosmic signals, such as radio emissions from pulsars, magnetic storms and interstellar noise. These traces, usually invisible in human experience, are processed and juxtaposed with small-scale sounds, such as breaths, whispers and mechanical fragments. The coexistence of the two levels forms an acousmatic field in which the cosmic and the human interpenetrate, producing spectral shapes that deviate from regularity.
The title alludes to an imaginary pulsar entry, coded as PSR-ΔX, that emits an unfamiliar signal. The work invites listeners to listen for the unknown amid the noise of the universe and reflect on human presence as an exception within an infinite spectrum.
