The Two-Day Contemporary Music Festival of KSYME takes place on 1–2 December 2023 at the Athens Conservatoire and is dedicated to the memory of H. Xanthoudakis. The two concert evenings include works by Greek and international composers for acoustic, electronic and mixed media.
The programme includes Transformations, an electroacoustic work for fixed media (tape) lasting 2′55″. The composition is presented alongside works by other composers within the electronic and electroacoustic part of the festival.
Transformations is presented alongside works representing different acoustic, electronic and mixed approaches. Its short duration leads to a concentrated electroacoustic form in which prerecorded material is organised without a live performer. Hearing the piece at the Athens Conservatoire places it in a clearly concert-based context and foregrounds its function as an autonomous work within a wider contemporary-music programme. Its brevity functions as a constraint that sharpens economy of material and clarity of overall form. in performance.
