The 9th International Conference for the Promotion of Educational Innovation takes place in Larissa from 20 to 22 October 2023 and includes presentations on contemporary teaching approaches, technologies and educational applications.
Y. Mygdanis and I. Kalaitzidis present the Maritime Music Project, a teaching proposal that draws on ubiquitous acoustic ecologies to connect music with the marine environment. The proposal includes activities in environmental listening, the use of sonic material and music creation.
Maritime themes provide a common framework for activities in listening, recording, processing and transforming sounds into musical material. The proposal connects musical creation with environmental observation and collaborative problem solving, offering a concrete example of how acoustic ecology can be integrated into interdisciplinary school design. Emphasis is placed on moving from listening to creative action. The project is structured as an interdisciplinary experience in which listening, technology and musical creation operate as interconnected stages of the same learning pathway.
