The 7th Acoustic Ecology Conference “Soundscapes, Biophony and the Climate Crisis” takes place from 7 to 10 November 2024 in Athens and Ancient Epidaurus. The programme examines the sonic environment in relation to biodiversity, environmental listening, technology, education, and the climate crisis.

The presentation addresses the design and implementation of STEAM scenarios in primary music education through the perspective of ubiquitous acoustic ecologies. Activities connect environmental listening with sound recording, sound processing, and music creation. The sonic environment therefore functions both as a field of inquiry and as a source of material for musical experimentation and composition.

The proposal transforms environmental listening into an active learning process in which students observe, select, record and transform sounds before incorporating them into creative musical tasks. Its connection with STEAM allows the soundscape to function simultaneously as an object of inquiry, a source of data and material for composition. The process encourages students to listen actively to the surrounding environment and translate observations into individual or collaborative musical constructions.
