The performance Diadromes is presented on 7 July 2023 at the Blackbox Theater of Deree – The American College of Greece as part of the Pierce Leadership Academy 2023. The project is developed over four days as a collaborative theatre creation, with active participation by middle- and high-school students.
The musical component is shaped through improvisation with the student group, allowing participation even by students with no previous instrumental experience. Musical guidance and the development of the sonic component are led by Yannis Mygdanis in direct relation to the stage action and the collaborative creative process.
The music evolves alongside the theatrical work rather than existing in advance as a completed composition. Students contribute improvisations that are tested immediately against movement, text and stage action. The process allows different levels of musical experience to coexist and turns musical guidance into part of a genuinely collaborative creation. Sonic material therefore emerges from the group itself rather than being added later as a finished layer.
