In February 2024, a choral recording of “Peace”, a setting of poetry by Yannis Ritsos from the collection Agrypnia, is released digitally. The original setting is performed by the choir of Pierce – The American College of Greece.
The production includes composition, arrangement and choir direction by Yannis Mygdanis. The musical treatment of the poem is shaped for the school choir and completed through the recording process with the participating students. The final recording is distributed digitally through CD Baby.
Recording moves the choral work into an environment where precision, repetition and coordination among vocal groups carry a different weight from live performance. The final digital track preserves the artistic result while also documenting a collective school music experience. Digital release further allows the choral setting to extend beyond a single presentation and remain available as a self-contained recorded work. For the student choir, the process also connects rehearsal with the experience of completing a finished musical production.
