The 6th Acoustic Ecology Conference takes place in Thessaloniki from 19 to 21 November 2021 and includes approaches to listening, soundscapes, technology and relationships between natural and digital sonic environments.
Y. Mygdanis and E. Perakaki present a sound-pedagogy proposal for children aged 7–11. SoundBlocks, Sampler, Scratch and Makey Makey are used in activities involving environmental listening, soundscape creation and digital experimentation, connecting the sonic environment with audiovisual creation.
The activities organise a pathway from listening and sound collection to digital transformation and the composition of multimodal works. The soundscape therefore becomes both an object of observation and creative material. Tangible interfaces and programming environments give children different ways to connect sound with image, movement and interactive action. Connecting acoustic ecology with digital creation enables learners to observe their environment, interpret it and transform it into personal artistic material, linking environmental awareness with multimodal creative practice. It also encourages children to connect sonic observation with visual and interactive forms of representation.
