The 2nd International Conference “Arts Education and Disability in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” takes place in Athens on 6–7 September 2025 and examines the relationship between arts education, disability, accessibility, participation, and contemporary technologies.
On 7 September 2025, a presentation addresses artificial intelligence and immersive XR technologies in music education, with emphasis on creating more accessible learning experiences. Experiential and multisensory activities are considered as ways of offering different modes of perceiving sound, interacting with musical material, and expressing musical ideas. Technology is approached as a means of broadening musical participation and reducing barriers to access.
Accessibility is approached as a question of overall pedagogical design rather than merely as a technical adaptation of a tool. Different ways of listening, moving, controlling and representing sound can operate together, creating broader opportunities for agency and meaningful participation in musical activity. The discussion also stresses critical technology selection so that innovation responds to genuine accessibility needs rather than simply introducing new media.
