The article Digital Little Music Makers: Utilizing Emerging and Immersive Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and STREAM Practices in Music Teaching and Learning was published in Musical Pedagogics, the scholarly journal of the Greek Society for Music Education, through EKT ePublishing. The study presents a multi-year post-digital music-learning environment for students in Grades 3–5.
The intervention developed across three school years in 30-week cycles and was examined through Design-Based Research. Music production, creative coding, immersive technologies and artificial intelligence were connected with creative expression, autonomy, self-regulation, collaborative problem solving and computational thinking. The analysis also considers how physical and digital musical practices can remain connected so that technology becomes an organic part of a shared creative process rather than a separate classroom activity. Findings support a human-centred framework in which pedagogical guidance, student initiative and reflection operate together throughout musical creation, while technology remains subordinate to meaningful musical participation and learning in everyday practice.
