The article Digital little music makers: Incorporating emerging technologies, immersive practices (AR, VR), artificial intelligence, and STREAM methods into music teaching and learning was published in the Global Academic and Scientific Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies (GASJMS). The study presents the teaching intervention Digital Little Music Makers as a multi-year framework for creative music learning that connects augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), artificial intelligence and STREAM practices.
The research developed across three academic years in 30-week cycles and followed a Design-Based Research methodology. Findings are associated with creative expression, autonomy, self-regulation, collaborative problem solving and computational thinking, as well as closer connections between physical and digital musical practices. The study gives particular attention to student agency and to children’s ability to move among the roles of creator, performer, programmer and collaborator. The proposed post-digital framework organises technologies around musical practice and seeks to maintain continuity among listening, making, composing and reflection, rather than treating each digital tool as an isolated classroom activity.
