The second concert in the series “Around the World in… 88 Keys – In Dialogue with Today’s Composers” takes place on 16 May 2025 in the “Giannis Marinos” Hall at the Athens Concert Hall. Students of pianist and educator E. Christodoulou perform works by sixteen contemporary Greek composers, engaging with current piano repertoire through study and public performance.
The programme includes an original piano work by Yannis Mygdanis, alongside works by the other composers featured in the series. The project brings young pianists into direct contact with contemporary Greek creation and integrates new repertoire into the learning process itself through study, interpretation, and live performance.
The series creates a direct link between contemporary composition and piano education. The new work is not treated as an isolated concert item but passes through study and interpretative development by young pianists before reaching the stage. Contemporary repertoire therefore becomes part of the learning process itself and of the experience of public performance, while students engage with music of the present and with the task of shaping a personal interpretation.
