The first concert in the series “Around the World in… 88 Keys – In Dialogue with Today’s Composers” takes place on 19 April 2024 in the “Giannis Marinos” Hall at the Athens Concert Hall. Students of pianist and educator E. Christodoulou perform works by contemporary Greek composers that have been incorporated into their piano studies.
The programme includes an original piano work by Yannis Mygdanis, performed by a student from the piano class. The concert brings young pianists into direct contact with contemporary Greek repertoire, from preparation and study to public concert performance.
The work enters piano study before it reaches the concert, creating continuity between the educational process and public performance. For young pianists, engaging with new repertoire means working on music of the present and shaping an interpretation without relying on an already established performance tradition. The concert therefore becomes a point where study, personal interpretative choice and contemporary composition meet.
