The third concert in the series “100 Works by Contemporary Greek Composers” takes place on 23 November 2024 at the Lykovrysi–Pefki Municipal Theatre. The series presents new works by contemporary Greek composers through successive concert programmes.
Three works receive their first performance in this concert: Prelude I for piano, “Variations on an Unknown Theme” for piano, and “Ysterofimia” for soprano and piano. The three compositions are presented alongside new works by other contemporary Greek composers and represent different approaches to writing for solo piano and for voice with piano.
The three first performances mark the works’ first encounter with performers and audience. Live presentation makes different compositional choices audible, from solo piano texture to the relationship between voice and piano, and allows the pieces to acquire a concrete interpretative form under real concert conditions. At the same time, the series places them within a broader body of new Greek repertoire being introduced publicly.
