The International Conference on Music Education Technology 2023 takes place in Hong Kong from 10 to 12 January 2023 under the theme Unfold the Future of Music Education through Technology. The programme focuses on technologies and practices shaping contemporary forms of music teaching, creation and interaction.

Y. Mygdanis and E. Perakaki present a paper on integrating ubiquitous music ecologies into STEAM scenarios. The proposal treats space, technological media, musical activity and the learning environment as interconnected elements of educational design.

The study approaches space, devices and musical activities as elements of a shared ecology that changes through students’ actions. Music learning is not confined to a single tool or location but develops through connections among listening, creation, movement and technological interaction. Its relationship with STEAM allows these connections to be organised within authentic and inquiry-based learning scenarios. This ecological perspective supports learning scenarios in which musical activity can move across spaces, devices and forms of participation without losing pedagogical coherence.
