The eight-hour online seminar “Multimodality and Technological Applications in Song Teaching (19+1 Ways to Teach a Song)” takes place on 24 January 2021 as part of Kroustofono’s professional-development series. Songs are approached through different combinations of listening, performance, language, image, movement and digital media.
Led by Y. Mygdanis and M. Kokkidou, participants work with multimodal approaches to song and technological applications for different stages of teaching. Activities include listening, performance and creative transformation of songs.
A multimodal approach allows the same song to become the starting point for different pathways of learning and creation according to age and group aims. Technology is used to broaden ways of representing, processing and reinterpreting musical material. Participants therefore consider how a familiar song can become a field for listening, performance, movement, image and creative transformation. The seminar therefore shows how multimodality can turn song teaching into a broader field connecting listening, performance, image, language, movement and technology.
