The online study day “Using STEAM Practices in the School Music Classroom: Theoretical Framework, Challenges and Practical Applications” takes place on 8 November 2025, organised by the Department of Music Studies at NKUA and the Regional Directorate of Education of Attica. The event seeks to clarify what STEAM means in music education and how interdisciplinarity can acquire meaningful music-pedagogical content.
Two presentations are included in the programme. The first examines the transition from STEM to STEAM and connects music education with the maker movement, constructionist learning, and design thinking. The second presents STEAMusEdGPT, a specialised generative-AI assistant for designing music-pedagogical STEAM scenarios, supporting idea generation, organisation, differentiation, and redesign of activities. Questions of accuracy, transparency, bias, intellectual property, and data protection are also discussed.
The two presentations connect the conceptual definition of STEAM with a specific digital design tool, allowing both the pedagogical framework and the practical production of educational material to be considered. Artificial intelligence is presented as support for instructional design that requires continuous checking, documentation and professional judgement.
