On 24 April 2021, an online seminar is organised by the String Instrument Pedagogy Group of GSME. The session approaches music video as an audiovisual form in which image, sound, movement and narrative come together.
The presentation “Music ‘Directors’ in Action! Creating Videos in Music Lessons” follows the process from the initial idea through recording and editing. Key areas of focus are the synchronisation of music and image and the creative decisions that emerge during production of the audiovisual work.
Production is approached as a sequence of creative decisions concerning relationships among music, image, time and narrative structure. Participants consider how shot selection, duration and editing can strengthen or alter the perception of music. Music video therefore becomes a field where musical creation meets audiovisual literacy and digital storytelling. The activity can function as either an individual or group project, creating space for role distribution, shared planning and discussion of decisions made in the final production.
