The online study day “STEAM Education in the Music Lesson” takes place on 1 November 2022, organised by the Regional Centre for Educational Planning of the Peloponnese, and focuses on connecting music, programming and interdisciplinary STEAM practices.

In the workshop, Scratch is used to connect programming concepts with pulse, rhythmic and melodic patterns, form and variation. Participants create interactive musical objects and use code as a tool for experimentation and musical composition.

Visual programming allows participants to see the structure of a musical process and modify it directly without needing knowledge of code syntax. Changing a command produces an immediate audible change, supporting experimentation and understanding of relationships among patterns, repetition and musical form. The workshop therefore approaches code as a creative musical medium. The immediate relationship between program structure and sonic result helps participants connect computational concepts with musical form and creative intention. Participants can therefore explore musical structure through trial, listening and revision rather than through abstract explanation alone.
